Home/Safety and compliance
Safety and compliance
Three things a principal contractor wants to know before we walk on site: are you safe, are you legal, and can you prove both. Here is the proof.
- ZeroReportable accidents since 2020. No fatalities, no major injuries, no over-3-day absences, no dangerous occurrences, ever.
- SafeContractorAccredited, with SafePQQ Gold. CIS gross payment status.
- 100% CSCSEvery operative holds a current CSCS card and a safety-critical medical.
- 35 mHeight limit written into our insurance. EL £10m, PL £5m, contractors' all risks.
Health and safety on site
Health and safety is run from the top of the company, not delegated to a folder. Management holds the NEBOSH General Certificate and IOSH Managing Safely; senior supervisors hold IOSH Managing Safely and SSSTS. Supervisors are on every site and first aiders are on every crew.
- Site-specific RAMS, lift plans and permits, written for your site
- Full PPE issued: boots, hi-vis, helmets, eye and ear protection, gloves, harnesses
- Face-fit tested, with records
- IPAF, MEWP and boom, telehandler, reach and counterbalance truck, slinger/signaller
- Advanced industrial climbing and suspended-loads training for height work
- First Aid at Work on every crew, Emergency First Aid as a baseline
- Daily briefings, toolbox talks, near-miss reporting that actually gets used
Installation standards
Conventional racking is installed to the manufacturer's instructions and the UK industry body's code of practice. Automated systems are installed to FEM 10.2.02 and whatever tighter tolerance the integrator specifies, because the automation will find any gap between the two.
For automated work we go further than any published code asks. No regulated qualification covers ASRS installation, so we wrote our own fourteen-unit programme and every installer on an automated job has been assessed against it. The training programme explains how.
Torque, plumb, level and alignment are measured and recorded, and the records go in the handover pack. If your client's approved rack inspector comes in a year later, our work will pass.
Legal to work, in the UK and across the EU
Brexit turned a paragraph of paperwork into a chapter, and a lot of installers have got it wrong. A crew working illegally on your site is your problem as much as theirs. We treat cross-border compliance as part of the job, and we have the people and the experience to get it right every time.
- In the UK
Every operative has the right to work in the UK, checked and recorded under current immigration rules. Most of our crew are Romanian nationals with settled UK residence.
- Into the EU
Posted under A1 certificates, with the posting declarations registered with the local authority of the country we are working in. Working visas for our British passport holders where they are needed.
- Payroll and tax
Two companies, two jurisdictions, correctly used. CIS gross status in the UK, a Romanian SRL for EU work. No umbrella schemes, no grey areas.
- Subcontractors
Where we bring in subcontract labour, they go through the same checks as our own people. The gate does not distinguish and neither do we.
The cost of cutting corners
The cheapest crew is often the most expensive one. A racking installation done badly leads to structural failures that risk lives, an annual rack inspection that fails and has to be put right at your cost, lost storage capacity, early replacement of damaged components, and legal exposure if the workforce was not compliant.
We will not always be the lowest price on the tender. We will be the one you do not have to think about again.
Paperwork on request. Insurance certificates, accreditations, PQQ pack, policies on equality, data protection and health and safety, supervisor and operative certificates. Ask and it is in your inbox the same day.
